For their eleventh project, the Three Birds Renovations trio found themselves back on their home turf, in suburban Sydney. This latest project involved transforming a typical Aussie 'plain Jane' five-bedroom home into an incredible Hamptons' inspired oasis – complete with basketball court (yes, really!), firepit, spectacular new pool and bar.
While the home was on a great sized block, it was previously lacking street appeal, the swimming pool had seen better days, and there were lots of tired wooden 'features' that were calling out for a makeover.
In just six months, the Three Birds Renovations team completely transformed this tired home into a light-filled entertainer's paradise, with a seamless flow between its various living spaces – both inside and out.
Right from the start, the team worked closely with the experts at Luxaflex to choose a varied collection of new blinds, shutters and awnings that would complement the fresh new style, plus suit the needs of the family of five who call this place home.
The outdoor area proved one of the most challenging for the Five Birds Renovations team, when they discovered the original fibreglass pool was leaking and needed to be entirely re-built. The finished result, however, is spectacular – with an elevated viewing deck at the end of a new pool, stylish glass fencing, and even a fire pit for winter evenings.
As the rear of the home is north facing, the team needed to find a way to shade the dining room which overlooks the pool. They chose a striped Luxaflex® System 2000 Awning to cover the dining room window – which can be fully extended for shade, or retracted when the family wants to let more light inside. This smart awning also has a solar-powered motor, meaning it can be automatically extended or retracted from inside the home – an ideal option if it starts to rain! The team chose Dickson fabric, the BS Grey 8907 colour, and an acrylic finish.
The owners of this amazing new home have three children – Harley, Jade and Kai – each of whom now have an incredibly stylish and unique bedroom to call their own.
For each bedroom, the Three Birds team chose Luxaflex® Wood Essence Blinds. These offer a practical alternative to timber Venetian blinds and are made of durable polystyrene. Even though they look just like real wood, they offer greater durability and quality – making them the perfect choice for the kids' bedrooms! They're also more resistant to discolouration and warping, which means they'll stand the test of time.
The formal lounge, which is at the front of the home, is a tranquil and plush space – with cream couches, framed wall panels, and an over-sized window seat with cushions a-plenty.
Luxaflex® Silhouette® Shadings complement the style of this beautiful room and add an extra element of sophistication. Combining on-trend aesthetics and practicality, they are made from an innovative material that allows you to see outside, but restricts the view from the street for privacy.
The team chose the PowerView® Motorisation option so the shadings can be operated with the touch of a button. They also selected a 75mm vane, in Originale fabric and in Radiant White colour with a translucent finish.
Every family needs a relaxed multi-use room – a place for watching a movie, relaxing with a book or hanging out with friends. The multi-use room in this home comes with inviting couches, a cute rattan writing desk, and a pleasant view out to the front yard.
As this room is completely open on one side, the Three Birds Renovations team decided to install bi-fold floor-to-ceiling Luxaflex® Polysatin Shutters – so the room can either be fully opened to the rest of the house, or closed off if needed.
These shutters, which are also used in the spacious master suite and ensuite, look stylish and beautifully finished, but are also highly durable and come with a 20 year warranty for the home-owners' peace of mind. For each room, the team chose an 89mm louvre in White.
The back of this large, north-facing home is flooded with natural light, and so the Three Birds Renovations team needed a way to protect the interior spaces at the rear, and keep them cool in the summer months. This was especially the case for the bay window in the dining area.
For this reason, the team chose Luxaflex® Roman Beach Blinds for the dining and family lounge areas, which offer sun protection and a clean, modern look that fits perfectly with the design and functionality of these busy spaces. These blinds are also great for cutting out glare when relaxing in front of the TV during the afternoon.
The blinds can all be opened or closed manually via a chord, are made in Havana fabric in Lace colour, and have a translucent finish.
