Gym owners and health fanatics Amanda and Matt had been living in their Miami home for five years and since day one, it’d been a challenge to renovate and rejuvenate this classic Gold Coast property.

The front had a bland and boring façade and the back yard had fallen into disrepair, culminating in the discovery of asbestos in both the roof and the pool. Any money the couple had was spent on hidden costs like getting rid of the asbestos and ripping up the interior to prepare for renovation works.

After gutting almost the entire house, the couple was forced to move into the garage so they could continue the internal renovations. But the money ran dry and the strain of living in a work site became almost too much. So Matt and Amanda decided to sell up, so they could move on and get married. The property had been on the market for almost two years with no offers. Buyers just didn’t want to tackle the amount of work needed to get the house up to living standards.

Shaynna certainly had her hands full with the interior of this property. The kitchen layout was transformed with a new island bench, pantry and fresh white cabinetry, offset by a vibrant blue tiled splashback. Stylish Luxaflex® Wood Essence blinds were installed in all rooms, bringing the house a clean and classic look. New flooring was added, walls and ceilings painted and stylish pendant lights lifted the kitchen and dining room from a construction site to a light and elegant living space.

The master bedroom was an empty shell, nothing but framework, but was turned into a beautifully finished bedroom complete with built-in wardrobe and new carpet. The two remaining bedrooms were also freshly painted and carpeted, giving a new lease of life to the rooms which look out onto the street. The Luxaflex® Wood Essence blinds offered a much-needed refresh to the rooms, adding privacy and ambience, providing a gentler tone of light for a more comfortable living experience. All three rooms were stylishly dressed with modern bedding, cushions and artwork in muted beachy tones.

The bathroom was the most complete room on the property but also the most dated. A new shower screen, new tapware and a complete bathroom respray brought the room up to the high standard now seen throughout the property.

Charlie didn’t have it any easier outside. The property has one huge redeeming feature – a large in-ground pool. The problem? The pool had asbestos beneath its surface. So it needed a total resurface, new pool render, coping and new pool equipment.

Charlie had limited space on either side of the pool so he cleaned up the garden and created a bespoke path of natural limestone pavers towards the raised back area. Here, he laid a healthy turf lawn as a kids play area.

The same limestone pavers were used to create the perfect entertaining area between the pool and the back door.  A glass pool fence really made this small space feel much bigger, and drew the eye towards the pool.

After this incredible facelift, the pool shone as the centrepiece of the yard creating an iconic Gold Coast feature to attract buyers.

Out the front, a series of arches were built to help guide visitors to the main entrance, which was topped off by a new set of stairs and a modern front door. Underneath the arches Zoysia tenuifolia and Tigergrass were planted to help soften the new entrance and create an inviting street frontage.
