Fabric is improving every year with higher grades of fibres and yarns being introduced. Fabric blends have improved durability and texture, without compromising the design.
Fabrics are showing themselves off by sporting intricate detailing. Tufted buttons and pleats show off the quality interior design fabrics, particularly in accessories, such as cord tension devises, hardware colours, cords and chains and matching fabric valances. Many designers now prefer to use sheers for their subtle iridescence, embossed with printed patterns.
Fabric is being used now to cover walls, with a resurgence in 1970’s luminous fabric. There is also a trend towards allergy-free fabrics and non toxic fabrics that are also easy to clean. Allergy sufferers can find stain, mildew and mould-resistant fabrics designed to ease allergy symptoms. Fabrics treated with SANTIZED® Antimicrobial Protection and DURAGUARD® Fabric Protector will be both resistant to mildew and mould as well as repel stains.
Many of the LUXAFLEX fabrics used in Roller Blind, Roman Shade, Panel Glides and Vertical Blind applications have been treated with both SANTIZED® Antimicrobial Protection and DURAGUARD® Fabric Protector. Of particular note is the new Portobello fabric which has been treated and has a lustrous, luminous yarn. Portobello sports a textured jacquard weave and is available in matching translucent and blockout opacities.
Incorporate these trends, but do not let them overwhelm the room. Stay true to your decorating style and introduce them comfortably into your home through accessories.
